Dedicated to children, young people and families, IndieJúnior Allianz reached in its first edition more than 5000 spectators, demonstrating the vitality and the interest with which it was received by the public of Porto.
In this second edition, IndieJúnior Allianz returns to Rivoli Theater, Cinema Trindade and Almeida Garrett Municipal Library for six days, presenting the most creative and original children’s and youth cinema in the world.
The festival is again part of an international competition for feature and short films and presents about 50 recent films (fictions, documentaries and animations). They will be evaluated by our three juries (Official, Schools and Public). This year, several of the films in the competition were selected by school students, from pre-school to high school, who were part of the new initiative “I Program a Film Festival!” organized in partnership with the Parallel Program of Teatro Municipal of Porto.
Also returning to the second edition is the section “My first film”, this time with three classics chosen by three renowned musicians. Ana Deus, Carlos Tê and Rui Reininho present the films with which, in their childhood, cinema came into their lives, respectively, Alice in Wonderland, Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines or How I Flew from London to Paris in 25 hours 11 minutes and Journey to the Center of the Earth.
IndieJúnior Allianz also offers its young spectators multiple workshops related to the universe of cinema and parallel activities associated with its varied programme. Talks with filmmakers, an exhibition, debate on gender issues and even a dance ball in the Rivoli Theater foyer are part of this festival’s proposal.
Between January 30 and February 4, IndieJúnior Allianz will be a great film festival. Come and see!
