About Us

In its third edition, IndieJúnior Allianz International Children’s and Youth Film Festival of Porto returns to Rivoli Theater and Almeida Garrett Municipal Library for six days to present the most creative and original children’s films in the world.

This festival has a theme – the place – a concept that refers to childhood and youth and which intends to lead us to derivations as the cinema place, to occupy a place, the place where we play, the place of imagination, my place in the world , etc., but it also relates to this event, IndieJunior Allianz, which takes place, which occupies, with a cinema programme that gives access, that is inclusive, that mirrors the present and the world.

The festival integrates an international competition for feature and short films, with around 50 recent films (fiction, documentaries, animations), watched by three juries (official, schools and audience). Several films competing for the awards are selected by students from pre-school to high school, which are part of the “I programme a film festival!” initiative, organised in partnership with the Parallel Program of the Municipal Theater of Porto. Because at the festival there is also a place saved for classics, we present once again the section “My first film”, with three guests from Porto choosing an important film from their childhood.

Between January 29 and February 3, 2019, IndieJunior Allianz will be a great place to be, a world projected on the big screen where all ideas and dreams come true. Come see!

IndieJunior Allianz’s mission is to give its target audience the opportunity to watch films (short and feauture, animation, documentary and fiction) that do not reach the regular distribution channels, allowing the encounter with new ways of seeing and thinking the world that author cinema offers. The festival also aims to stimulate the national production of films for children and create an enriching environment for its participants, both in the numerous screenings of the festival and in the parallel activities.
