Juries and Awards

In the first edition of the festival we will welcome three juries: one specifically composed of children who will attribute the DoctorGummy Award for Best Film (prize of 500€), another composed of professionals in the field, who will attribute two prizes: Best Feature Film (1.250€) and Best Short Film (750€). An Audience Jury will give Trina Audience Award (500€).

Abi Feijó

Animation Director, Producer, Teacher and Museum Director

Licence in Graphic Art at the Oporto School of Art (80). Internship at the National Film Board of Canada (85), where he directs and animates his first film.

Creator of  Filmógrafo – Animation Studio (87), Casa da Animação – Cultural Association (01), Ciclope Filmes – Animation Studio (02) and Quinta Imagem – Cultural Association (12) that helds the Casa Museu de Vilar – The Moving Image Museum.

As a Director he signs the films How Calm it is (85), Time of Darkness (87), The Outlaws (93), Fado Lusitano (95), and Stowaway (00), among others, with them he receives 40 Awards and Mentions, including The Cartoon d’Or Special Jury Award’94.

As a Producer (since 97), he produces Regina Pessoa’s films: The Night (99), Tragic Story with Happy Ending (05) and Kali the Little Vampire (12). These films won 80 Awards and Mentions, Including the Cristal d’Annecy’06 and The Hiroshima Prize’12. He just finish the production of a new pixilation film Amélia & Duarte (15) by Mónica Santos and Alice Eça Guimarães

He leads several animation workshops in Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Israel, Scotland, Poland and Brazil, mainly with children (since 85) and young people.

He is a teacher at the Universidade Católica do Porto (99-01), the Escola Superior Artística do Porto (since 2002), The Tainan National University of the Arts (Taiwan), the ESAP – Guimarães (since 2009) and at the Universidade do Algarve (12-13).

He has also President of ASIFA – Association International du Film d’Animation (00-02) where he launched the idea of the International Animation Day, and Vice President of the ASIFA Workshop Group (95-01).

He just opened an Animation Museum at the Casa de Vilar, Lousada (Mai 2014), he is producing a short animation film Tio Tomás e a Contabilidade dos Dias by Regina Pessoa, a co-production with the ONF/NFB of Canada and the Studio Film Bilder, Germany.

Marta Madureira

Marta Madureira was born and lives in Porto.

She’s a communication designer, illustrator and teacher at Instituto Politécnico do Cávado e do Ave, where she teaches a bachelor course of graphic illustration and a masters course of illustration and animation.

She has been awarded with several relevant prizes in her field, like the special mention Prémio Nacional de Ilustração (2010 and 2011), the 1st 3×3 Magazine of Contemporary Illustration 2012 prize, the SPA award – Sociedade Portuguesa de Autores 2016, silver medal in the Clube de Criatibos de Portugal 2016 contest, inclusion in the White Ravens 2016 catalogue and silver medal in the illustration category in the Art Directors Club of Europe.

She has illustrated 20 children’s books with writings by Adélia Carvalho, Álvaro Magalhães, Ana Luísa Amaral, António Mota, Inês Fonseca Santos, José Vaz, Manuel António Pina, Vergílio Alberto Vieira, entre outros.

She is the author and director, alongside Pedro Mota Teixeira, of the animation series “As Máquinas de Maria”, financed by the Instituto do Cinema e do Audiovisual.

She is, alongside Adélia Carvalho, the co-founder of the publisher Tcharan.

Robert-Jan Lacombe

Born in 1986 in Mandima, Democratic Republic of the Congo. Joint French and Dutch citizenship. Since 2006 lives in Switzerland. 2008-2011 Attends the ECAL (École Cantonale d’Art de Lausanne), cinema department. 2011 Receives degree from ECAL.

Diana Arroyo

My name is Diana Arroyo. I’m 18 years old and I was born in São Paulo, Brazil. I attend classes at Escola Profissional Bento de Jesus Caraça. At 8 years old, I moved to the island of Madeira where I stayed for 8 years. At 16, I moved to Porto and I’ve been living here for almost 3 years.

Francisca Dores

O meu nome é Francisca Dores, tenho 18 anos e frequento a Escola Artística Soares dos Reis. Estou no último ano do curso Comunicação Audiovisual, na especialidade Vídeo, e tenciono tirar um curso superior em Realização, através do qual pretendo começar uma pequena produtora cinematográfica e realizar filmes de autor. Tenho, assim, especial interesse pelo cinema e a fotografia mas também pelos vários campos da arte, como a literatura e a poesia, o desenho e a pintura.

My name is Francisca Dores and I’m 18 years old. I’m studying at Escola Artística Soares dos Reis. I’m on the last year of the Audiovisual Communication course, in the video department, and I’m planning on taking a higher education course in directing. From that point on, I’d like to start a small film production company and start directing author films. I have a very special interest in film and photography but also in other artistic mediums like literature, poetry, drawing and painting.

Mariana Nunes
