Registration open for free workshops for schools

There are 10 days left until the seventh edition of IndieJúnior Porto docks in several venues in Porto and the full program is already available for consultation.

As part of the school programme for this edition, besides the cinema sessions, there are two very special workshops for schools in Greater Porto, both free of charge. Starting this week, teachers can already make reservations for their students. Capacity is limited and in order of registration.

Here are the two workshops available:

Optical Toys
(90′ – Pre-school and 1st Cycle – 5 years old and over)

Sessions:
→ Tue. 24 Jan – 10.30am – Soares dos Reis National Museum
→ Tue. 24th Jan – 02:30pm – Soares dos Reis National Museum
→ Thu. 26th Jan – 10:30am – Soares dos Reis National Museum
→ Thu. 26th Jan -02:30pm – Soares dos Reis National Museum

Limited capacity | Free entry by prior registration at indiejunior.com/brinquedosopticos

Children must be accompanied by a responsible teacher.

During the activity, participants are invited to build an optical toy, create images related to paintings from the MNSR and animate them through movement in cyclical action. This workshop arises from the dialogue between the moving image of cinema (through archival Portuguese films about the sea, recovered within the FILMar project of the Cinemateca Portuguesa) and the drawing and painting works on display.

Let’s Imagine a More Sustainable City?
(240 – 1st and 2nd Cycle – +8 years)

Session:
→ Thu. 26 Jan – 02:00pm – Biodiversity Gallery

Limited capacity | Free entry by prior registration via e-mail [email protected]

Although situated in the middle of the city, the Botanical Garden of the University of Porto allows us to come into contact with some of the diversity of plants and animals that characterizes the natural world. And, inside the Biodiversity Gallery – Live Science Centre, we can understand the importance of the biodiversity that surrounds us. However, biodiversity is increasingly threatened by the impact of human activity, and atmospheric, water and noise pollution is one of the factors that has contributed to its decline. In this activity, as we walk through the Botanical Garden, we will reflect on how we can make our city more sustainable and increase its biodiversity. At the same time, we will collect some plant materials that we will then use to build wild animals that live in our city.
