The Mayor of Porto presents “My First Film”

The first film you watch at the cinema always has a big impact on your life.

Those are the experiences and films we want to share with the festival’s audience in the My First Film section. The first screening of this section takes place Tuesday, February 7th, at 19h, at Teatro Tivoli’s Grande Auditório Manoel de Oliveira and will be presented by Rui Moreira, Mayor of Porto, who will be introducing Jacques Tati’s unforgettable Mon Oncle.

Mr. and Mrs. Arpel live in a spotless modern house. They have everything. At their house, everything is new: the garden is new, the house is new, the books are new. In this very comfortable universe, so clean, so high-tech, so well programmed, there is no place for humour, games and luck. And their son, Gérard, is bored out of his mind. That’s when the mother’s brother comes in – the uncle, Mr. Hulot. A strange character, used to his own warm world. And he will completely turn their world upside down, much to his nephew’s delight.
