Scrapbook Animation and Homo Biologicus: the weekend workshops for families

The seventh edition of IndieJúnior Porto starts today in several venues around the city and the full programme is already available.

As part of this edition’s family programme, besides the cinema sessions and other activities, there are two very special workshops, in partnership with Soares dos Reis National Museum and Galeria da Biodiversidade – Centro de Ciência Viva. Registration for both workshops is open and participation is limited.

Here are the two workshops available:

Scrapbook Animation
(120′ – 5-9 years old)

Session:
→ Sun 29 Jan – 10:30am – Soares dos Reis National Museum

Limited number of participants | Applications should be made at indiejunior.com/animacaoderecortes

Each participating child may be accompanied by 1 responsible adult. Each adult may bring up to 3 children. Child: 3 euros | Accompanying adult: 5 euros

This workshop, aimed at families, seeks to understand and experiment with one of the image animation processes: cut-outs animation. The activity starts from a script created by the participants, consisting in the production of animations from 2D characters, as well as from cut-out elements of the image, with a painting of the MNSR as background. The workshop will be guided by the director Alexandra Allen, whose film, Foxtale, will be premiered at the festival. This workshop proposes a dialogue between the films and the works exhibited, working on the works of drawing and painting on display through the moving image.

Homo Biologicus
(90′ – +8 years)

Session:
→ Sat. 28 Jan – 10:30am – Biodiversity Gallery

Limited number of participants | Free entry by prior registration via e-mail [email protected]

In this activity, participants will be challenged to imagine and design ecological means of transport, produced from the reuse of various materials. We will reflect on the impact of human actions on changing the world around us. Using material collected at the Botanical Garden of the University of Porto, as well as recycled material, participants will be made aware of the importance of preserving nature, and in particular natural resources, to ensure our survival and a sustainable future.
