What is the IndieJúnior for schools?

The IndieJunior schools have a program offering short and long feature films, documentary and animated film for the various age groups of school groups, including preschool, 1st, 2nd and 3rd cycles and secondary.

The films are carefully chosen to match the interests, problems and inspirations of each age group, with the aim of establishing a communication relationship between work and student, leaving space for debate and reflection at school, at home and in life .

Which sessions will happen?

The calendar can be accessed through this link.

Are the films in Portuguese? Are they subtitled?

Most movies aimed at the younger (preschool and +3 years) have no dialogues. If these exist, a locution is made in Portuguese.
Movies intended for children from the 1st cycle and + 7years, when they are in a foreign language, are subtitled in Portuguese, with care being taken to be films that do not have complex dialogues.
In all other ages, all foreign language films are subtitled in Portuguese.

How the films are selected?

Filmmakers enter their films and programmers watch all of these films, choosing those who will later compose the festival program. Afterwards, the directors are contacted to confirm the film and send it, so that it is projected in the cinema, in the session that is most appropriate in terms of theme and age group. This process is sometimes time-consuming, which means that the closing of the programming sometimes takes place after the beginning of the inscriptions. But it’s worth it because the movies are wonderful!

How much?

The tickets have the symbolic price of 1.5 € per student (the accompanying adults do not pay).

How can I buy and reserve tickets for my school?

What is the duration of the sessions?

In general, each session lasts approximately 50 minutes.

Does the organisation provide any transportation for schools?

In partnership with CP – Comboios de Portugal E.P.E., we provide train transportation (in the urban network of Porto) to the IndieJunior for school groups. From 10 students, the return trip + movie ticket has a special price to be announced soon. The accompanying adult does not pay (one ticket for an adult for each group of 10 students).
